Yesterday I shared with you the New York City Hall wedding of Hugh & Christine. Despite the rain it was a perfect day for a City Hall wedding, complete with Cartier rings, close friends, cute flower girls and a handsome ring bearer. Today I have the pleasure of showing you their sunny reception in Central Park.
I met Hugh & Christine on the Upper East Side close to their apartment, on a sunny May day, where we walked into Central Park together. Christine told me they wanted to get some shots by their favorite spot in the park, under a cherry blossom tree where Hugh proposed. For most of my shoots, I try to scout out where I will be shooting before hand, so I can get an idea of light and location. However, as soon as we turned the corner and I saw this breathtaking scene, a HUGE smile came across my face and I didn’t stop smiling for the rest of the night. The lighting could not have been more beautiful.
Though the blossoms were gone on the tree, I was obsessed with this light and couldn’t get enough of it. We actually shot here for 25 minutes before the festivities began.
SERIOUSLY. The breathtaking light, the couple so deeply in love, and her stunning Phillip Lim lace dress; could it get any better?
I had to get a shot of her exquisite Louboutin heels on the boulders in Central Park.
Hugh’s father brought gardenia to his mother during their courtship, so he wore a boutonnière made of Gardenia from Magnolia Flowers in honor of his parents.
I took this just before Hugh & Christine walked up to the reception area to greet their guests. I’m not sure why, but I just love this image with the couple on the bench watching as the bride and groom passed.
I could not get over the amazing light that we were so blessed to have for the outdoor central park reception. It was a perfect evening to celebrate the love of Hugh and Christine.
The reception was on the veranda overlooking the Conservatory Water of Central Park, also known as the sailboat pond (more on this later).
As the reception was ending, guests participated in a model sailboat race, with the winner receiving a chilled bottle of champagne.
Hugh and Christine: It was an honor and a pleasure to be a part of your wedding and reception. I absolutely loved being able to tell your story.
And a special thanks to my great friend & photographer Samantha for shooting with me!
