I am an NYC based lifestyle photographer with a passion for people and fun, edgy, editorial style photography.  I love to laugh at myself, see others smile, and have the most fun humanly possible.  I love the feeling I give to my clients when they see themselves in my photographs.

I'm a southern boy living my dreams in NYC with my beautiful wife and our dog, Lola.  I love sweet tea, fall is my favorite season, my favorite musician is a toss up between Ray Lamontagne, James Morrison & Eric Hutchinson, and my favorite soundtrack is from the movie "Across the Universe".  I have an intense love for photography and learning more about the art everyday.  I am currently a student at the International Center of Photography, and in my free time, I enjoy attending workshops lead by other passionate photographers.

This is an online journal that follows my life as a photographer, husband & friend.  I would love for you to join me in the journey...so feel free to take a look around, or leave a comment.

Thanks & God Bless,

Happy Friday…an intro to Instax | New York City Lifestyle Photography

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!

I recently purchased the Instax 210 Instant Film camera.  I have been wanting to get an instax for awhile to switch it up a little.  I cannot wait to incorporate the instant film into more of my work and future sessions.

This is a shot that I took yesterday on 34th Street and 8th Ave on my way back to the subway from picking up my business cards (I cannot wait to show you my cards and some other things I’ve been working on).   The sun was setting on the Empire State Building and this is what came out of the Instax.

Apostle’s Church | NYC Lifestyle Photographer

After moving to another side of the country, Dara and I wanted to be able to connect with a church family.  I’ve attended the same church back home in Louisiana for most of my life, and know how important it is to have a church family (miss you guys at Amite FUMC).  We have really enjoyed attending Apostles Church; they offer two services on Sundays:  one on the Upper East Side at 10:30am and the other in Union Square at 7pm.  One way our church desires to tell the story of Jesus at Apostles Church and in the City of New York is through the photography team.  I am so excited to be able to serve on the team and recently shot some during the services at Union Square.

Happy Fat Tuesday!

I’m definitely a little homesick today watching the snow fall outside of my window, and would LOVE to be in New Orleans.  I wanted to wish everyone a VERY Happy Mardi Gras!  Today is the day….Fat Tuesday is here!  I hope you all have a fun time in NOLA, catch LOTS of beads, and drink a Hurricane for me.

I thought I’d share some images I took last Mardi Gras:

Is it too late for a holiday post?

These images have been sitting on my computer for ummmmm…TWO AND A HALF MONTHS…To kick off the holiday season my beautiful mom visited for Thanksgiving.

We had so much fun going to the Macy’s Parade.  It’s one more think I can check off of my list!  We got the perfect spot just two blocks north of Herald Square where all the action happens (for tv).

We scored a great outdoor table at a coffee shop/diner.  Enjoy some of the images from the day.

We flew home for a week to celebrate Christmas with our families.  We spent part of the trip in Louisiana visiting Dara’s family and seeing my great friends.

Then it was off to Texas to see my side of the family.  It had been a few years since I’ve celebrated the holidays with all of my family and it was so great to see everyone!

My wonderful parents with all the granddogs (mom’s name for our pups)

Candice and Dave got us this awesome Herb Grow Kit!  Perfect gift for me and Dara. I miss working out in the yard, so maybe the herbs will give me something to do(bottom left).

My cousin Katee and Aunt Peggy.  I think Katee got the best gift at dirty santa (it was a metal print of one of my highline pics) (bottom right).

christmas 7 Is it too late for a holiday post?

This is the new tradition that we started.  Dara put these (AWFUL) pants in the dirty santa gift she gave.  The person that got them has to add to the outfit each year.  Lets see how bad this gets!

Life Lately: Saints Superbowl & SNOW | NYC Lifestyle Photographer

What a week it has been.  We hosted a little Superbowl party complete with a Black and Gold King Cake shipped fresh from NOLA.  It was so much fun to watch the Saints win their first Superbowl (hopefully many more to follow).

On Wednesday we experienced our first blizzard.  It was so much fun to see the snow coming down so hard…It was like being inside of a snow globe!  We ventured out towards the end of the day to take a walk through central park. The snow was so beautiful and I couldn’t wait to capture it all on camera, THEN my camera battery died.  I got a few before it died.  I didn’t check the battery before heading out, and that was completely my fault.  So we took some shots on the iphone….i may post those at a later date.  We walked through a foot of snow in Sheeps Meadow; quite a difference from the summer months when it is PACK with sunbathers.  It was filled with a life sized igloo and a 5 foot tall castle (brave souls to make an igloo in the middle of a blizzard)!  Saints and snow 3 copy Life Lately: Saints Superbowl & SNOW | NYC Lifestyle Photographer

Philadelphia Freedom…our anniversary weekend

We had an amazing getaway to Philly this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary I also had the opportunity to second shoot a wedding with the super talented Andres Valenzuela (more to come on that later).  I wanted to share a few highlights from the weekend in Philadelphia, and also my cake surprise to Dara.  We had the honor of having the brilliant Tariq Hanna at Sucre make our wedding cake & groom’s cake.  When we were packing up our house in Louisiana, we realized we wouldn’t be able to bring our cake on the big move to NYC so my mom took it back to Texas with her.  I collaborated with my mom to ship the cake up to NYC for our first anniversary.  Dara had completely forgot about it and was surprised to see it sitting on our table when she got home from work.  I have to give a MAJOR thanks to my amazing mom for once again being awesome.  The story of getting the cake here is another blog post in itself.  For all of the weekends pictures head over to my facebook page to see them.

Catching up! | NYC Lifestyle Photographer

Hope everyone is having a great 2010 so far.  I am still catching up on last year.  I did this fun shoot sometime in November with Dara and our dog Lola.  Later on that day I also shot some of our friend Ross’ designs.  He had a big interview coming up with Ralph Lauren and wanted some of his work photographed for his portfolio.  He got the job and is now working in product development…all because of the amazing images in portfolio (who am I kidding), he is super talented and that totally got him the job.  Congrats Ross!

The hairclips in the images are once again made by my talented wife.  We are doing a shoot this weekend of her new headbands that are absolutely beautiful.  Be looking for a post with all of the new items coming to her store.  You can find her store here:  Studio45NY.  She is currently working on custom wedding pieces for a few different brides, and can make a custom piece for you!

I have so much to catch up on from 2009.  Personal Posts (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Our Trip to Philly) and more posts of my amazing clients!

Happy Anniversary to US!

One year ago TODAY, I was preparing to marry my best friend, the woman that I knew without a doubt I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.  What started out as a friendship grew to become an amazing marriage.   I don’t want to get all sappy on the blog so I will just say this:  Happy FIRST anniversary Dara.  We have both grown so much in the last year, graduated college, sold our house, packed up everything we owned (only took half) and moved to the city of our dreams, went after our passions in life and laughed alot and learned a WHOLE lot more.  I look forward to every day I will spend with you and the many many years to come.   I love you.

Here is a video I put together of our wedding day in New Orleans.  Photography by the fabulous Melissa at MQ Photography.

We made it back to NYC!

We are back from our trip south to visit our families in Louisiana & Texas and I will have many posts to come with highlights of the trip.

A fun shot I caught a few weeks ago before we left was during SantaCon in NYC (more about this event here).  It was just before noon on the Wall Street stop of the 2&3 line.  Apparently one of the Santas had some spoiled eggnog (or too many tequila shots) and had to take a “break” in the subway.

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas & a wonderful New Year!
