I am an NYC based lifestyle photographer with a passion for people and fun, edgy, editorial style photography.  I love to laugh at myself, see others smile, and have the most fun humanly possible.  I love the feeling I give to my clients when they see themselves in my photographs.

I'm a southern boy living my dreams in NYC with my beautiful wife and our dog, Lola.  I love sweet tea, fall is my favorite season, my favorite musician is a toss up between Ray Lamontagne, James Morrison & Eric Hutchinson, and my favorite soundtrack is from the movie "Across the Universe".  I have an intense love for photography and learning more about the art everyday.  I am currently a student at the International Center of Photography, and in my free time, I enjoy attending workshops lead by other passionate photographers.

This is an online journal that follows my life as a photographer, husband & friend.  I would love for you to join me in the journey...so feel free to take a look around, or leave a comment.

Thanks & God Bless,

Happy Birthday, My Sister!

How can I even begin to talk about how much this one person has influenced my life?  She has been with me since day one, eagerly awaiting my arrival with so much anticipation and on April 17th, I blessed her with my presence :) .  She was ecstatic to ride home from the hospital in the back seat with me, proudly wearing her “I’m the big sister” shirt.  My sister Candice has been an amazing person to share so many life experiences and learn so many valuable lessons from.  Today she turns 28.  I am so proud of her and she is so proud of me.  We were raised by two loving parents who always loved us, never compared one to the other, and encouraged both of their children to follow their passions wholeheartedly.  Candice has done that!  She is living in HER home state of Texas (I’m always going be a Louisianian), happily married to her love, and passionately teaching history in Jr. High.  Talk about shaping lives and changing people’s perception of the world through her teaching and coaching.  Another minor change in my sister’s life has been her weight loss.  Candice has shed 125 pounds and Dave has lost 190 pounds.  They look like different people to say the least!

Candice, I want wish you the happiest birthday today, but I also want you to know that I celebrate you everyday for all you have accomplished in 28 years, your influence on my life and so many others, your big sister advice, and loving heart.

Love,

Your Baby Brother

Photo on the left….just cute

Here are a few I shot of Candice & Dave when I was home for Christmas.  The light was fading and we had just a few minutes, so we will be having another session next time we are together.

Had to get a quick one of our awesome mom & dad….they pretty much rock!

It snowed and I have this pics to prove it | NYC Lifestyle Photographer

WOW….this southern boy was not ready for the winter in the Northeast.

Not.At.ALL I just saw last night on the news that this February was NYC’s “SNOWIEST” on record. EVER. Meaning the city got more snow this February than it’s ever had in any February.  What a way for winter to welcome us to the North.
I joke about it, but I really do love it.  Friday we had so much snow and the city was absolutely beautiful.  Now I know you’re saying, “Didn’t he JUST post about the snow?”.  Yes, I did.  That was the last blizzard….these are from the newest blizzard. And this time I was prepared with a full battery, so no excuses!

NYC is getting back to normal.  The snow has melted into a brown slushy mess and the hidden puddles are no fun to step into (especially if you’re wearing suede boots while on a date with your wife), so I wanted to post these from Friday to remind me of the snowglobe that is the Northeast!

This is just outside of our apartment on Wall Street…looking down at Trinity Church

I’m not a history geek, but I think it’s beyond cool that I get to walk past the spot that George Washington took the oath of office as our first president.

The gates around the cemetery at Trinity Church.

The cemetery has so much history with members of the continental congress, congressmen, members of the Astor family (some who passed away on the Titanic), writers, artistists, and also has the oldest marked grave in New York City dating back to 1681.

We had to take a starbucks break to warm up!

We made it to my favorite spot in the park!

These are the steps that lead down to the Bethesda fountain…everyone just slid down, because of all the snow!

Have I told you how much my wife LOVES THE SNOW?  Her face lights up like a little kid!

I love this one…the reflection on the tiled ceiling

and these two:  love the silhouette and my favorite of the day is the one of Dara on the right!

SNOWFLAKES!

Dara took these of me….It was a cold bench!

Photog Shootout | NYC Lifestyle Photography

I love to play.  And it’s even more fun to play with friends and meet some new friends in the process.  On a cold (20-30 degree) NYC January day, 75+ photographers gathered to play, learn, grow, connect, and participate in the Photog Shootout movement.  We were so lucky to learn from some awesome photographers and had great models to shoot.  A special thanks to Rob Nicholson and William Chang for coordinating the day.

Happy Friday…an intro to Instax | New York City Lifestyle Photography

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!

I recently purchased the Instax 210 Instant Film camera.  I have been wanting to get an instax for awhile to switch it up a little.  I cannot wait to incorporate the instant film into more of my work and future sessions.

This is a shot that I took yesterday on 34th Street and 8th Ave on my way back to the subway from picking up my business cards (I cannot wait to show you my cards and some other things I’ve been working on).   The sun was setting on the Empire State Building and this is what came out of the Instax.

You can purchase an Instax at Unique Photo

Things I like Thursday | NYC Lifestyle Photographer

I’m back with another installment of Things I like Thursday on the blog. I have been listening to this guys music for a few months now and it just doesn’t get old. It has a timeless feel to it…like an old Motown artist. But Mayer Hawthorne is far from it.

Here is my favorite song from Mayer called The Ills. This is a video put together and uploaded to youtube by a fan (not an official music video)

And here are two more. The first is Mayer’s Video for Green Eyed Love. And last is an interview with Ford Models TV.

Apostle’s Church | NYC Lifestyle Photographer

After moving to another side of the country, Dara and I wanted to be able to connect with a church family.  I’ve attended the same church back home in Louisiana for most of my life, and know how important it is to have a church family (miss you guys at Amite FUMC).  We have really enjoyed attending Apostles Church; they offer two services on Sundays:  one on the Upper East Side at 10:30am and the other in Union Square at 7pm.  One way our church desires to tell the story of Jesus at Apostles Church and in the City of New York is through the photography team.  I am so excited to be able to serve on the team and recently shot some during the services at Union Square.

On our way home from church I snapped these two:

Happy Fat Tuesday!

I’m definitely a little homesick today watching the snow fall outside of my window, and would LOVE to be in New Orleans.  I wanted to wish everyone a VERY Happy Mardi Gras!  Today is the day….Fat Tuesday is here!  I hope you all have a fun time in NOLA, catch LOTS of beads, and drink a Hurricane for me.

I thought I’d share some images I took last Mardi Gras:

Is it too late for a holiday post?

These images have been sitting on my computer for ummmmm…TWO AND A HALF MONTHS…To kick off the holiday season my beautiful mom visited for Thanksgiving.

We had so much fun going to the Macy’s Parade.  It’s one more think I can check off of my list!  We got the perfect spot just two blocks north of Herald Square where all the action happens (for tv).

We scored a great outdoor table at a coffee shop/diner.  Enjoy some of the images from the day.

My mom with the turkey at Tavern on the Green for Thanksgiving lunch (L).

We flew home for a week to celebrate Christmas with our families.  We spent part of the trip in Louisiana visiting Dara’s family and seeing my great friends.

Then it was off to Texas to see my side of the family.  It had been a few years since I’ve celebrated the holidays with all of my family and it was so great to see everyone!

My wonderful parents with all the granddogs (mom’s name for our pups)

Dara gets her first big girl watch (top left).  My sister and brother-in-law opening gifts (top right).  I also did a shoot with Candice and Dave when I was home…be on the lookout for those coming to the blog soon!

Dara modeling her DVF jacket from my parents (center left).  Mom and Dad love to watch all the gift opening (center).  Dad and Bentley (center right).

Candice and Dave got us this awesome Herb Grow Kit!  Perfect gift for me and Dara. I miss working out in the yard, so maybe the herbs will give me something to do(bottom left).

My cousin Katee and Aunt Peggy.  I think Katee got the best gift at dirty santa (it was a metal print of one of my highline pics) (bottom right).

This is the new tradition that we started.  Dara put these (AWFUL) pants in the dirty santa gift she gave.  The person that got them has to add to the outfit each year.  Lets see how bad this gets!

Dara’s gave the most fabulous gift for dirty santa.  A Bump It!  It also came with a nice(hidden) starbucks gift card.  She put the bump it in mom’s hair!

Papa surprised Nannie with a pretty sweet pendant!

Kegan had to test out the head massage device!  This thing talks to you in a “soothing” voice to try and relax you….I think it was a major FAIL at relaxation

I pretty much love the image on the left.  The most important women in my life:  Dara, Nannie, Mom and Candice.  All modeling one of Dara’s companies shirts

The whole gang showing off their Jon Hart goodies! (top right)

And apparently mom liked the relaxation device.
